Description
In this article, benzyl 2-deoxy-2-salicylideneamino-α-d-glucopyranoside (H2SalHGlc), a sugar-based Schiff-base ligand, as well as four of its derivatives including H2Sal5-BrGlc, H2Sal3,5-tBuGlc, H2Sal3-OMeGlc, and H2Sal5-OMeGlc were synthesized. In the ligands, the C-1 position of the sugar ring was protected by a benzyloxy group. Their vanadium complexes, include [(OV(SalHGlc))2O], [(OV(Sal5-BrGlc))2O], [(OV(Sal3,5-tBuGlc))2O], [(OV(Sal3-OMeGlc))2O] and [(OV(Sal5-OMeGlc))2O] were also synthesized using triisopropoxy(oxido)vanadium(V) as the precursor. These compounds were characterized by FT-IR and different NMR spectroscopies. Then, the synthesized complexes were used as catalysts in sulfoxidation reactions. Furthermore, organosulfur compounds present in crude oil such as methyl(phenyl)sulfide (MPS) and dibenzothiophene (DBT) were selected as representative of readily and hardly …
